Gregory L. McDermott practices civil litigation in state and federal court in a wide range of matters, with focus on commercial litigation and labor and employment. He also practices in the administrative and regulatory arena.
Mr. McDermott practices in the Administrative and Regulatory arena, with particular focus on issues related to state and local government. Mr. McDermott has experience interpreting and understanding complex legislative issues, development of state agency administrative rules, and navigating through the often complex process of administrative and state agency proceedings. Mr. McDermott works for clients on a complex range of business issues with a focus on increasing bottom lines, while maintaining compliance with an often-times complex myriad of intermingling local, state and federal regulations.
Mr. McDermott graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in May 2009 with membership in the Order of the Coif Honor Society, membership to which is considered one of the highest honors a law student is eligible to receive. Mr. McDermott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a Minor in Political Science from Illinois State University in 2005.
While in law school, Mr. McDermott was a member of the acclaimed Miami Business Law Review, and was recognized for his excellence in trial advocacy and as a Law Moot Court Board Member, taking First Place in the 2007 Charles C. Papy Jr. Moot Court Competition. Mr. McDermott earned a place on the Dean’s List in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and received Highest Honors in the nationally recognized Litigation Skills Pre-trial & Trial Program. Mr. McDermott was the recipient of the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for Legal Research and Writing (Book Award), and the Dean’s Scholarship & Pricilla Jewett Schneller Scholarship for academic excellence.
Before becoming an Associate at Panza Maurer, Mr. McDermott was a Legal Intern for the 11th Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program in Miami and clerked for a mid-sized civil litigation firm in Miami at both the state and federal level.
Mr. McDermott is a member of The Colorado Bar.
