Jan J. Gorrie practices in the areas of health care and administrative law. She has successfully represented clients before the Agency for Health Care Administration, Department of Health, and Department of Business and Professional Regulation. She is an expert on Medicaid reimbursement, which has resulted in millions of dollars in enhanced payments for hospitals and physicians.
Ms. Gorrie earned her under-graduate degree from Duke University (1982), a Masters in Public Health in 1986 from the University of South Florida, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Stetson College of Law in 1996.
Ms. Gorrie regularly advises clients regarding Medicaid, EMTALA, HIPAA, and HITECT compliance. She serves on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s Health Information Exchange legal work group as well as the Department of Health’s physician workforce task force. Ms. Gorrie is also a facilitator for the University of South Florida’s Healthcare Risk Management On-line Certificate Program where she lectures on “Statutes, Regulations, Case Law and Standards that affect Healthcare.”
Ms. Gorrie is a member of The Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. She is a life-long resident of Tampa, Florida. She currently serves on the board of the Tampa Firefighers’ Museum and is a Sunday school teacher at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, member of the H.B. Plant High School PTSA, certified USA Swimming referee, and Junior League of Tampa sustainer.
