Jose Felix Diaz

Jose Felix Diaz is a government law attorney. His practice areas include the representation of individuals, non-profits, major corporations, and various other entities before county and municipal boards throughout the State of Florida and beyond in complex matters involving public contract procurement, public private partnership deals and solicitations, litigation, zoning, land use, code compliance and enforcement, energy project development and comprehensive planning.

In 2010, Mr. Diaz was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, where he served as Chairman of the Energy & Utilities, Regulatory Affairs, and Commerce Committees. He served four-terms in the Florida Legislature and was elected as the Chairman of the Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation. Mr. Diaz co-sponsored the State’s first public-private partnership legislation which paved the way for local governments to codify uniform unsolicited proposal procedures.

He has been honored by both Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami for his national and local accomplishments, as well as being recognized by numerous state and national publications as a rising star in law and politics. Miami Today News listed Mr. Diaz in their listing of Best Legal Leaders of Miami-Dade County in 2014, and in 2016 recognized him as one of Miami-Dade’s “Best in Government.”
Mr. Diaz has served on various committees of statewide and regional significance, including the Public Service Commission’s Nominating Council, the Southern States Energy Board, the National Conference of State Legislators, and the Florida Constitution Revision Commission, where he chaired the Legislative Committee. In 2017, Mr. Diaz was nominated as a top candidate for U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

A tireless advocate for children’s causes, Mr. Diaz has served on the board of CHARLEE Homes for Children, the Miami-Dade County Children’s Trust, and Our Kids of Miami-Dade & Monroe. He is a recipient of the United Way of Miami-Dade’s Public Service Leadership Award, the Children’s Trust Champion for Children Award, and Volunteer Florida’s Champion of Service.

Mr. Diaz is a native Floridian who earned his B.A. with honors from the University of Miami. He earned a J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was the Editor of the American Review of International Arbitration. He has also earned a certificate in energy policy and planning from the University of Idaho.

Jose and his wife live in Miami-Dade County with their two sons, and they are expecting a baby girl in the very near future.
